Every year Sandhill Cranes use the Phyllis Haenhle Memorial Sanctuary ( http://www.haehnlesanctuary.org/ ) in Jackson County, Michigan as a staging area on the autumn migration. Last year's record rain led to high water levels in the marsh leading to less than ideal conditions for the Cranes to roost. This year however has been below average in precipitation allowing the cranes once again to show up in near record numbers. I visited the sanctuary on October 25 and took a few photos.
